Pasir Ris Park

Last weekend we met with some friends at Pasir Ris Park - a half hour drive out to the west coast of Singapore.

It's an amazing park with dozens of playground areas beside the beach. The kids loved it! Other than having to take shelter for about half an hour from a short-lived storm it was a great day out.

Oh look mum, my shoes fell off and I landed in a puddle again!

Flynn models one of his new birthday t-shirts

Yes the boy needs a haircut!! But his haircut phobia is making this an impossibility. The last three haircuts ended halfway through, in hysterical fighting, thrashing, kicking and screaming. With the last one even involving a facial cut from the scissors! We are contemplating having another go, but I don't fancy our chances.

We even had him watch two of his little mates have their hair (calmly) cut. After that he was keen for his hair to be cut, but as soon as she pulled out the COMB, the hysterics started!

Flynn's Second Birthday

It was Flynn's second birthday on the 20th November!

He had a big double-party planned (with his buddy Ethan) but a few of his buddies (including Ethan) came down with 'hand, foot and mouth' - a common childhood sickness here. It causes fever, and spots on the hands, feet and mouth, as well as feeling pretty crap. So we postponed the party.

The party venue was unfortunately booked out until Jan 31st so the boys are getting a very late party. Fortunately they are none the wiser!

On the day, we all celebrated by going out for breakfast (Blake went into work late) then also out for dinner. And Flynn had his first meal off the menu (normally we take his food with us). He didn't want it though, preferring the look of mine.

He got lots of great prezzies! These included two cool t-shirts, a dump truck with pool/sandpit toys, books, a baby boy doll, a scooter, lego and a transformer car! What a haul!

I also made him a chocolate mud cake which he loved

He wasn't so keen on the candles being so close to his face though!

Okay! Enough already!

It's a Boy!

We've been slack in announcing the news, so everyone probably already knows that we are expecting baby number two!

Baby Two is due in late May and it's a boy - which we found out at week 13!

I have been anaemic which has meant feeling very tired! But after just increasing my red meat consumption didn't work, a month taking iron pills is finally working, and I am just starting to feel some energy again. - yay!

We are very excited that it's been a breeding bonanza on the blake-family side of things, and there will be THREE baby cousins born within three months!

Big Boy Bed

Flynn's got a big boy bed!

A racing car one - and he's stoked with it! So stoked that it took an hour for him to fall asleep the first night and he wanted us all to sleep in there with him! He's used to it now, and is sleeping well.

Bintan Island

A couple of weeks ago we spent a long weekend on Bintan Island, Indonesia.

It's only a 45 min ferry ride from Singapore, so it doesn't really feel like you're in Indonesia, but it makes a nice easy weekend away.

We went with a group of about six couples from Aspen Heights, who all have kids too. So it was great fun for Flynn with lots of little buddies to play with. We stayed in a rustic cabin on the beach.

Lots of beach time!

We went to an elephant park on Bintan, where they did a show and performed some elephant tricks. Flynn was pretty wary of getting near them at first, but he warmed up somewhat.

Busy Boy

Flynn likes to be busy.

He's always on the go, rarely sits still, and has the attention span of a gnat. He does, however, make an exception for books - which he loves to be read several times a day, many books in succession. We spend lots of time sitting here on the couch - reading and playing.

We take a reading break, for a little tickling

Flynn loves to play with water and scrubbing brushes on the balcony!

He's pleased to see some new mold needs to be dealt with

"Dirty mummy, dirty mummy"
(he's referring to the tiles, in case you wonder)

Another great joy, riding on the mall cars

Or any cars

And swimming is a daily pastime
(The American Club in these shots)

Random Flynn

We regularly go to an indoor playground called Fidgets - Flynn loves it and goes nuts! He's playing in the 'baby area' in this shot.

An after-dinner ride on the cows at Marche Restaurant

Flynn's little buddy Rory feeds him his water

Halloween Party Time
But Flynn doesn't like wearing a costume! ("itchy!")

He soon gets used to the idea

Pumpkin Carridge

'Oooo, what's in here?'

Flynn becomes resigned to spending the morning
as a fat orange vegetable

The cheeky grin is soon back

Grandma's Back!

Grandma Julia came for a visit recently and Flynn was most delighted to have her here! In fact, whenever we were about to leave the house, he first checked that gramma was coming too.

Flynn and gramma enjoy a cuppa at Starbucks

But as soon as the food has gone, the hijinks start!

Gramma bought Flynn a new car for his birthday,
and he's pretty happy about it!
