Benjy's Party

A few days after his birthday, he had his party. We did the traditional thing with games and prizes and lots of mayhem.

The boys looking their best

Cake... check

Table ready... check

Let the fun begin!

Egg and spoon's always a winner

There were two teams in an egg and spoon relay - the tension was palpable, the mood was high

"Do not drop the egg, do not drop the egg"

"Do I get a prize mum?"

"YES! My team won!"

Then 'musical skittles'

Hmmmm, should you be running with a lollipop in your mouth Benjy?

Pass the parcel

'Keep the balloon in the air' game - always good for a few minor injuries

Then dancing to Gangnam Style (yes, its STILL a favourite) for the 'Statues' game

Finally, pinata time!

Then a little play before the parents arrived

Happy 5th Birthday Benjy!

The day starts with present opening of course! Thank you to all those who sent presents, he was so excited to get his parcels and then finally be able to open them!

A new bike has been needed for a while

Then the big surprise treat for us all - Europa Park - an amazing amusement park in Germany.

Pure excitement!

Europa Park is created to be like a mini-Europe. There are sections including France, Germany, Spain, Greece, England and many more. Each section is created to look exactly like you're in that country, with buildings, landmarks, roads and restaurants just like in that place.

There are also other special 'lands' like Fairytale land, which was very cool

This is the Spanish section

And of course, everywhere you go there are rides and amusements galore

This ride is a like the Log Flume but in a boat. The kids loved it and it was quite full on!

There was the most terrifying roller coaster I have ever seen

Then a quick snack in the Swedish section

Light rain jackets were handy if you wanted to do the water rides and not become completely soaked. This one was a lot of fun as you went down a river, spinning around and banging into things along the way - plus a few sneaky water hoses were positioned to catch you out if you weren't already wet enough.

Watch out for sharks!

There were also fair-style games where you could win soft toys and the like - Flynn aced the ball/can game and won himself a panda he called 'Pandy'. Pandy was soon one of the family.

In Fairytale land you could visit the houses/settings of the Grimm fairytale characters. There was Hansel and Gretel's house, Sleeping Beauty, and all the usual suspects.

Flynn tries to squeeze his big clodhopper into the glass shoe at Cinderella's place, but no luck!

Pandy the princess

The Candy house from Hansel and Gretel

The English section

London cab anyone?

There was a great outdoor playground too

There were lots of little-kid rides which both of them enjoyed.

Greek Section

There were height restrictions on all the big rides and unfortunately Pandy didn't make many of them. But he was a pretty good sport and didn't mind staying with the photographer.

"Hold on tight Pandy"

Benjy wasn't shy about bashing into girls

It was a big day out but we still had enough energy to eat cake when we got home

Then time for a bath and bed!
