Open Day at Flynn's Pre-school

Last weekend Flynn's pre-school had an open day so that families could come and enjoy fun activities with their kids, talk to the teachers and allow the kids to show us around their school environment.

There was balloon-animal making

Introductions to friends

Art and Crafts

Paper flower making

Face Painting

We were amazed that flynn sat still for the face painting, but he did! And when his fantastic train was completed, he did a dance of joy, spun around and smashed face first into the fire hose cabinet that you can see in the above photo (top right). The ensuing tears and face-wiping promptly destroyed the face painting which had enjoyed a life of around 30 seconds. Ah well - next time.

There was building with blocks and shapes
and all manner of things

And Flynn proved the perfect host,
providing a
hot cuppa for all

As well as whipping out a fruit platter
that he'd prepared earlier

We all had a great morning

And then it was home to say a sad goodbye to Grandma-
and hello to a new Toy Story puzzle!

On Sunday we had a cruisy day at a neaby mall (Somerset 313 for those who know it), eating foodcourt and hanging out at HMV and a bookstore.

Flynn likes to be up with the latest music
and is a frequent listener at the music posts

Benjy is doing well, growing fast and has turned into a proper baby! (No more of that newborn, fragile look). He's also getting over his newborn spots, yay!

He is awake and alert a lot more now, and is revealing a new 'I-need-to-be-entertained' side to him - this means he's no longer content to sit on the couch being cuddled... oh no, he prefers now to be off on jaunts in the sling and cries if he's stuck in one place for too long. (On taxi rides, he even cries if the taxi stops, ie at the lights!)

But saying that, he is a sweet, gorgeous boy and is sleeping and feeding well - and with a smile as cute as this, we can put up with 'high maintenance' (not like we weren't used to it already, eh Flynn?).

Flynn, on the other hand, needs more than his cheeky cuteness to get out of the dog box lately. He has perfected the art of naughtiness and his latest misdemenours (ie, in the past week) include:

  • Putting finger paints all over the bedroom wall (and we can't get it off)
  • Pumping ANOTHER entire handsoap bottle down the bathroom sink
  • Ruining ANOTHER one of my chapsticks by mining it with his fingers and smearing it everywhere
  • Drawing all over a friend's beige couch in black ink pen (so far we can't find a cleaner who will risk trying to remove it so we may have to re-upholster)
Where does he get these ideas??

Blake's Family Comes to Town

We've had a fun month or so of visitors and our latest batch consisted of Blake's mum, and his sister Bec - with family Andy, Daisy, Zach and Sebastian.

Bec and co stayed just round the corner in Clarke Quay for five days - whilst enroute to NZ. Grandma Julia stayed with us for a couple of weeks. We all had a great time hanging out and letting the cousins get re-acquainted!

The cousins got on well and Flynn was always asking when we would be seeing Daisy next.

Little does Grandma realise, she's babysitting
this lot later on

The whole crew!

Five little rascals lying on a bed

The youngest boys kickin back by the pool

Are we keeping you up Basty?

Seeing the new sights in Singapore

"C'mon guys, shots or cocktails?"

Benjy at about 9 weeks

Benjy insists on the big boy bath

Flynn's happy to share but he won't guarantee
anyone's personal safety

Grandma and the Happy Happy Little Chappy

The not so happy chappy declines to walk

Or walks when you'd prefer he stay

The other little chappy pretty much does
as he's told

And turns on some cute smiles

Not a bad dancer either

Flynn prefers the rough and tumble

Benjy's more of a thinker (Le Penseur)

Benjy has good table manners

But Flynn's more fun in an enchanted forest
(at a kids' exhibition at the art museum)

Flynn enjoyed the magic mushrooms

He's got a good pair of lungs on him

Dives with gay abandon

And I love it how he steals someone's
water gun and uses it to take on the big boys!

The Kids

Here's the little guy, this shot at six weeks

Taking a daddy-ride in one of the many baby
carriers we have accumulated

Not forgetting the Big Brother...
who wants to be in little brother's bouncer, a lot

Flynn shows off his big boy skills with a
koala puppet from Nana

Flynn is trying hard to be a nice big brother but the pressure becomes too great at times and he gets annoyed at Ben being held/fed/attended to when he would like to be first in line.

Already a mischievious chap - Flynn's response to the new baby is to now ramp up the naughtiness to a fine art. His latest tricks include running into shops and running out with merchandise - setting off the alarms in the process; and running into a bakery, grabbing a bun out of the cabinet and taking a big bite of it. All of which he thinks is hilarious!

We're trying to give some extra attention and we hope he'll recover from the displacement-shock soon!

Nana and Auntie Lisa Come to Singers!

It was great to have Nana (coming from NZ) and Auntie Lisa (coming from London) meet the new addition to the household this June! The boys were showered with gifts and were very spoiled for two weeks!

Flynn was pretty stoked to have some new playmates, and Ben appreciated the sudden influx of warm arms to doze in. I was very lucky too to have lots of hands on board to help with chores and kids at this hectic newborn time!

Ben settles in with nana

" Hi-Five Nana!"

Nap time

Auntie Lisa supervises Flynn's waterplay mayhem

We managed a few dinners out with Ben in tow

Flynn enjoyed a many an auntie-tickle

And Ben got his share of attention too

We checked out the new Resort World at Sentosa

And after a bit of a look around, had dinner
at the Hard Rock Cafe, mmmm tasty!

Unfortunately the two weeks was up in a flash and everyone was heading back home before we knew it. We were very sad to see them go and will be hangin out for our next rendezvous in NZ next year!
