Random Stuff

Our condo's pool is currently being renovated which is highly inconvenient in the hot weather of the moment - but no matter, we've turned our balcony into a pool-for-one and Flynn absolutely loves it.

His latest trick, however, is to throw bucket loads of water into the house (thank god for marble floors) and to throw his bath toys off the balcony (turning around with his hands in the air and a look of surprise, as if to say "where have my toys gone?".

My friend from London, Julie visited in early May and we hung out for a couple days, generally enjoying walks, eating and drinking coffee. (as well as catching up on the gossip of the last ten years!)

Grandma's Here!

Grandma is back and has been catching up on some Flynn-time!

We have been out and about doing lots of fun things while she's here, including a visit to the zoo, where there is also a fantastic waterpark!

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo...

Feeding time for the giraffes

Flynn was mildly interested in the animals, but he was VERY interested in the waterpark! There is a giant bucket that is suspended over the big fort - every ten minutes it is refilled, a bell rings in warning, then the bucket is upended and water cascades over the fort, violently dousing anyone who has not taken shelter... Hilarious fun watching the uninitiated newcomers (especially those fully dressed).

Bucket Time!

The waterslides were a hit

As were the ride-on cows

In the school holidays they have things on in the malls and we saw some very realistic (moving, roaring) mechanical dinosaurs. They really were amazing, too amazing for Flynn.

"Let's get outta here!"

For a nice child-free event, we went to an outdoor, evening performance of Much ado About Nothing. Julia and I really enjoyed it, Blake found it boring, but we all enjoyed the eventual cessation of the rain. Thank god for tasty wine and nibbles!

We were also picnicing again one afternoon soon after, in the botanical gardens. Very civilized it was, a glass of wine even.

We checked out the Singapore Flyer, an enormous sightseeing ferris wheel type thing. It gives amazing views of the city and was a pleasant half hour ride.
