Fun Times with Little Mates

Now the boys are getting older, they are starting to take notice of eachother and kind of play together. The play is often pretty rough and there's a lot of toy-napping going on.

Flynn doesn't like being pushed around by his friend Elias

But he loves water play with his friend Ethan!

He loves swimming anywhere, anytime in fact- and he doesn't mind getting his kit off and going au naturel.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may i present my handsome self"

A quick Zoolander-style pose for the camera

An exhausting afternoon at West Coast Park,
and it's asleep with his mate Jacob, in the car

Playdays

Flynn has started some fun toddler classes called Playdays.

They do stuff like songs with actions, water play, outdoor play, stories, 'mystery box discoveries', painting and making 'artworks' and general kindy type stuff.

Flynn is the only one who likes to taste the paint

In this shot he is disgruntled because someone else
has their snack and he hasn't even washed-up yet

Snacktime is, of course, his favourite thing and he sprints expectantly to the table as soon as he spies the food preparation beginning.

He's not fussed on the raisins when there are other
tasty bits to be eaten, so they often get tossed.

"Look, my raisins fell out mum"

Pulau Ubin

A few weeks ago we headed out for a day trip to an island off Singapore (a few hundred metres) called Pulau Ubin.

It's a nature reserve and has the last remaining examples of village life as it once was in Singapore. There are several routes - far more than you can walk in one day. We took one that went through forest and then along the coast.

The Jetty Terminal

The Swanky Ride

We went with a group of friends - five couples with toddlers in backpacks. The walk was fantastic but the mosquitos were the most ferocious I have ever seen - they swarmed in great clouds and laughed raucously when we pulled out our citronella insect repellant.

"C'mon dad, let's get the show on the road."

Rest stop

The heat was intense and by the end of the walk we were pretty hot and thirsty. Fortunately there is a seafood restaurant by the jetty so we off-loaded the backpacks and on-loaded some food and drink.

Flynn, about to pass out

A quick drink and it wasn't long till he was dancing on the tables
