Open Day at Flynn's Pre-school

Last weekend Flynn's pre-school had an open day so that families could come and enjoy fun activities with their kids, talk to the teachers and allow the kids to show us around their school environment.

There was balloon-animal making

Introductions to friends

Art and Crafts

Paper flower making

Face Painting

We were amazed that flynn sat still for the face painting, but he did! And when his fantastic train was completed, he did a dance of joy, spun around and smashed face first into the fire hose cabinet that you can see in the above photo (top right). The ensuing tears and face-wiping promptly destroyed the face painting which had enjoyed a life of around 30 seconds. Ah well - next time.

There was building with blocks and shapes
and all manner of things

And Flynn proved the perfect host,
providing a
hot cuppa for all

As well as whipping out a fruit platter
that he'd prepared earlier

We all had a great morning

And then it was home to say a sad goodbye to Grandma-
and hello to a new Toy Story puzzle!

On Sunday we had a cruisy day at a neaby mall (Somerset 313 for those who know it), eating foodcourt and hanging out at HMV and a bookstore.

Flynn likes to be up with the latest music
and is a frequent listener at the music posts

Benjy is doing well, growing fast and has turned into a proper baby! (No more of that newborn, fragile look). He's also getting over his newborn spots, yay!

He is awake and alert a lot more now, and is revealing a new 'I-need-to-be-entertained' side to him - this means he's no longer content to sit on the couch being cuddled... oh no, he prefers now to be off on jaunts in the sling and cries if he's stuck in one place for too long. (On taxi rides, he even cries if the taxi stops, ie at the lights!)

But saying that, he is a sweet, gorgeous boy and is sleeping and feeding well - and with a smile as cute as this, we can put up with 'high maintenance' (not like we weren't used to it already, eh Flynn?).

Flynn, on the other hand, needs more than his cheeky cuteness to get out of the dog box lately. He has perfected the art of naughtiness and his latest misdemenours (ie, in the past week) include:

  • Putting finger paints all over the bedroom wall (and we can't get it off)
  • Pumping ANOTHER entire handsoap bottle down the bathroom sink
  • Ruining ANOTHER one of my chapsticks by mining it with his fingers and smearing it everywhere
  • Drawing all over a friend's beige couch in black ink pen (so far we can't find a cleaner who will risk trying to remove it so we may have to re-upholster)
Where does he get these ideas??
