Nice cool beer on a hot day!
Grandma Julia visited us a few weeks ago and the Tinguely Fountain is a sight-seeing must (and a kid-pleaser). All the parts are moving so the photos don't do it justice.
We went to Lake Lucerne again - a beautiful city. But this time we spent most of the day at the Transport Museum. "Oh yes... yawn" you are thinking...
But no! This is the most amazing family attraction I have ever been to, anywhere in the world. It has real planes, helicopters, trains, cars, etc that you can go in. Amazing interactive exhibits, scooters and bikes you can ride around on, remote controlled boats, kids play areas at every site, and loads of fun things to do and see - as well as the cafes etc.
They had a working construction site for kids which Flynn had to be prised away from after about an hour
There were hundreds of interesting (old and new) car types and you could request one from the rack to be sent down (via a robotic lift) to a central arena, where you could check it out and get the run down on it.
There were lots of exhibits with buttons (all a small lad needs really)
And a model steam train which we took a ride on
Back in town, there are many beautifully painted buildings
So many nice things to look at
And nice things to eat and drink!

A tractor is a common sight on the main road of Muttenz
There are lots of restaurants in Muttenz too and we are aiming to try most of them. This one was fantastic, and sitting outside is always good given the mess and noise Flynn and (especially) Benjy make
Benjy won't take anything from a spoon now - ever. This means that sloppy foods and sauces and everything gets eaten with the hands. He also loves to throw food, especially if he doesn't want it or is full. I hopefully provide a spoon at every meal and am looking forward to the day he decides to use it! He is also getting pickier after being a really good eater until lately.
Flynn, meanwhile, is a great eater still and a great appreciater of food!

Update on life:
Flynn is now enjoying his new pre-school. It took three weeks before he felt happy heading off everyday but now he has some little mates and the teachers tell me he is doing really well and is a real part of the group. They tell me his German pronunciation is fantastic so maybe soon he can translate our health insurance letters for us (still beyond me). Flynn loves being in the garden, especially playing with the hose and water and seems very happy in Switzerland.
Benjy loves having visitors and is happy as a clam playing and pottering around when there's company. When they leave however, he becomes bored and clingy and wants me to read him books all day, or carry him around. He yells and screams if I don't, which is particularly trying when i am cooking meals. I am hoping he gets used to life not always going his way, but I suspect he's going to be a tough customer. He loves being outdoors though - in the garden or out and about, and loves pushing things around (dolls pram, cars) and digging with a trowel - and is also crazy about water play.
We have planted a veggie garden but since it's late in the season we are unlikely to have much success. We will plant some winter veggies if we don't have much luck with this crop.
