Spring in Basel explodes into blossoms, daffodils and tulips, with almost every garden featuring fruit trees and spring flowers. This spring started early but has been up and down in temperature.
We love our cherry tree out the front, but we also have a quince tree, apple tree, elderberry tree and a small plum tree - wow, that was a lot of blossom!
April is also Blake's birthday and this year (his 40th) he decided he wanted to spend it doing a marathon - a hard hilly one, and his first. He blitzed it of course and came away with a sore ankle but a glad heart. Apart from his salt-encrusted face, he looked pretty good afterwards!

Spring obviously brings new life in many forms and one of those is tadpoles. We have some large puddles at the foot of the forest where they proliferate and we regularly check out their development. You can't see much in this photo, but they were pretty young. Now they're looking a lot bigger and we're looking forward to the first frogs.

We visited the Spandaus in Germany and did a lot of outdoors adventuring too.
They have this cool place called Felsenmer- which is a river of rocks, coming all the way down a mountain. They are a real wonder of nature and the kids loved climbing them. We didn't manage to reach the top as it's a long way, instead we stopped at the cafe/shop (three-quarters of the way up) and settled for a round of sweets.
