Just before the school summer holidays started, the kids and I went on a long weekend into the mountains, with my friend Sally and her two girls.
The kids were thrilled with the Kids' Club and immediately managed to get their faces painted
We really were high up the the mountains, which was great because the weather in Basel was very hot and a few thousand feet up, it's much cooler.
In summer the ski resorts continue running their gondolas for hikers and the ski-lodge restaurants are mostly open
Since kids are not so satisfied with an expedition to gaze at the majesty of nature, we were delighted to find a trampoline and playground at the top of the mountain. Then we had a nice lunch in the restaurant and headed back to the hotel for a swim
The view from our balcony
Next day we headed up another mountain to a fancy ski resort where they have some good kids activities
This sled-slide thing was a MASSIVE hit with the kids and we spent quite some time here
Once again, the obligatory icecream
Pool Time! We were really disappointed when we saw the size of the pool - more a paddling pool than a swimming pool. But the kids had a ball here and Flynn even managed to use his divers flippers
The kids love staying at kinder hotels - where they have a kids' club, kid beds (bunks) and kids' menus. When asked his favourite part of the holiday, Flynn will often nominate the breakfast buffet.
Before the summer breakup, Flynn's kindy did a performance based on Rumpelstiltskin. It was very charming and I was pleased to see Flynn do very enthusiastic dancing and song actions
Bit blurry, but there was lots of movement in low light
That's Flynn, holding his mask
Then outside for a play, mingle, and some food. Benjy got stuck right into the sandpit
Flynn got stuck right in to the food
Meanwhile, back at the ranch... one of the fun new things to do is make elaborate ramps to send the skateboard and large toy trucks down
